GENTEXT/REMARKS/ 1.  The Chief of Naval Operations and Commander 
Naval Safety Command take great pleasure in announcing the winners 
of the FY 2024 Grampaw Pettibone Awards.  These awards are presented 
to the organizations and individuals who contribute the most toward 
aviation safety awareness through publications and media resources.

2.  Sharing stories of miscues, mishaps, goofs, flubs, and other 
airborne misadventures has long been a hallmark of professional 
aviators.  Publishing these stories and the lessons learned, as 
well as other innovative ideas, keeps countless aviators from 
learning the hard way and, perhaps, avoid a tongue-lashing from 
Grampaw Pettibone, the famous curmudgeon of "Naval Aviation News."

3.  FY 2024 Grampaw Pettibone Award plaques will be forwarded to 
the winners via their respective echelon II commands. As this award 
is a significant accomplishment, CNO requests each award presentation 
be made by a flag officer within the winner's chain of command.

4.  All nominees are to be commended for the significant contributions 
they have made toward aviation safety awareness through publications 
and media resources. Congratulations to all for a job well done.
