Command Master Chief, Naval Safety Command

 
Master Chief Michael P. Saenz is a native of Yreka, California. He enlisted in the Navy in 1995 and completed basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois.

In November 1995, Master Chief Saenz reported to Utilitiesman 'A' school in Wichita Falls, Texas before proceeding to his first duty station at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) FOUR in Port Hueneme, California. During this tour, he made deployments to Okinawa, Japan; Norfolk, Virginia; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and Sasebo, Japan. During his first tour, he advanced to Second Class Petty Officer and qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist. In June 2001, he transferred to the Self-Help division, Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he was stationed until June 2004. During this tour, he served as Project Supervisor and Leading Petty Officer and advanced to First Class Petty Officer. In June 2004 he transferred to NMCB FIVE where he completed deployments to Balad, Iraq and Seychelles, Africa, and was selected for Chief Petty Officer. In October 2007, he transferred to the 30th Naval Construction Regiment in Port Hueneme, California. While there, he served as Pacific Operations Chief responsible for construction of eight deployment sites throughout the INDOPACOM AOR. In October 2010, he transferred to NMCB FOUR, completing deployments to Bagram, Afghanistan; Djibouti, Africa; and Cebu, Philippines. During this tour, he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He then reported to Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering Det Sheppard as the Senior Enlisted Leader for UT and CE 'A' School from May 2015 to January 2018. He transferred to NMCB FIVE where he served as the Battalion Operations Chief and was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer. After this tour, he reported to Civil Engineer Corps Officer School as the Senior Enlisted Leader. Then, he reported to Underwater Construction Team TWO as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, where he was selected for Command Master Chief. Master Chief Saenz reported to NMCB FIVE where he served as Command Master Chief followed by Commander Task Force 56 in March 2024.

Master Chief Saenz reported to his current assignment as Command Master Chief, Naval Safety Command in March 2026.

Master Chief Saenz earned an associate’s degree from Hawaii Pacific University in 2004 and completed his bachelor's degree in 2017 from the University of Arizona. He is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 186.
 

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal (2), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (5), and various unit and campaign awards.
